The Forest Stewardship Council® is a world-renowned non-profit organization that has dedicated itself to the sustainability and overall health of the Earth's forests. They work with lumber companies and governments around the world to promote sustainable forestry practices that produce eco-friendly decking. Lumber can only become FSC® certified when the Forest Stewardship Council® reviews and approves both the import company's practices, and lumber mill's forestry practices. Every step in the chain of custody from forest to jobsite is independently verified by 3rd parties.
The Brazilian plantations and mills where we acquire our lumber from already use government monitored sustainable forestry practices. The whole world isn't so regulated however. To show our customers that the wood they are buying is 100% beyond a doubt from a sustainable forest, we worked hard to acheive the FSC® certification.
End consumers don't know about Brazil's highly regulated plantations and lumber mills. They don't know that we do business exclusively with Brazilian plantations and mills. Without the FSC® certified lumber label, consumers and wholesalers can easily be doubtful about the source of the lumber. Thankfully, that is not the case. And, with the Forest Stewardship Council®, we now have a way of sorting through those claims. The result of these efforts have led to increased awareness of the demand for eco-deck products as well as eco-friendly flooring.
